How long will it take to get to Tobago?
From London the approximate flying time is 9 hours and ususally consists of one stops in another Caribbean island.

What airlines go to Tobago?
Various schedule airlines fly into Tobago icluding: British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, American Eagle, BWIA and LIAT.   Also there are two charter 
                                              airlines Monarch and Condor.

What is the time difference to London?
During the winter (GMT) it is minus 4 hours, but in the summer (BST) it is minus 5 hours.

What is the name of the airport used?
The airport is Crown Point International.

What is the currency used?
The Trinidad & Tobago Dollar. 
The exchange rate is around 8 or 9 dollars to the pound  (approx. £1=TT$8.41)

Will I need a converter for my electrical product?
Yes, Tobago uses a different voltage to the UK, as a guide it the same as the USA. (110/220 volts, 60 cycles.)

What is the healthcare like?
Health centres are mostly used, but there are also private doctors available.  In case of emergencies there is the Scarborough General Hospital.

What language do they speak?
The official language is English, however it is spoken with a Creole dialect.

How do I get around the island?  
Most people take ‘route taxis’ but car hire is readily available.  There is only a limited buses service.


Can I drive in Tobago?
You will need a valid international driving licence or a valid driving licence issued in the UK, France, Germany, the USA or Canada. (Remember driving is on the left.)

Do I have to tip? 
For restaurants and hotels a 10% tip or service charges is the normal. However this practice is becoming more popular.

Do I have to pay departure tax?
Yes, this is paid locally on departure, as it is not included in the price of your airline ticket.   It is TT$100 (Airport/Security  Tax), approximately £12.


What time does shops open?
Shops open between 8:00-4:30pm Monday to Friday and 8:00-12:30pm Saturday.  Most shops are closed on Sunday, however it is becoming more popular for shops to be open early on Sundays and bank holidays.

What time does the banks open?
8:00-3:00pm Monday to Thursday, 8:00-12:00pm and 3:00-5:00pm Friday.  There are banks at the airport, Store Bay and in Scarborough. Royal Bank in Store Bay has a 24hr ATM.

Is there any laundry facilities?
Yes, there is a wash tub and amples of line space we also offer a service wash, see Prices for detail.  Also Store Bay has a wonderful coin-operated laundry mat called Wash 'n' Surf.

Are there any churches in the area where I can attend Sunday Service?
Maranatha Pentecostal Church 10.30am on the Bucco Bay Road, St Andrews Anglican Church 7.30am in Mount Pleasant, St Joseph’s Roman  Catholic Church 8.00am in Scarborough, Moravian Church 12.00pm in Bethel.  Also on Saturday the Mount Pleasant SDA meets at 11.00am.
